Westminster Academy’s second lacrosse season was, unfortunately, shorter than expected. However, the team made the most of their time on the field and turned in another exciting and memorable season. The small season was highlighted by the team’s huge win against rival Calvary Christian Academy. The COVID-19 pandemic shortened the WA Lions Baseball season to only nine games out of 25. However, no one can diminish the promising future to come under our new head coach and the Lions Baseball Program. The future is bright for Westminster Academy on the field! Every year, the National Football Foundation hosts the Brian Piccolo Award Banquet. This awards dinner pays tribute to the late Brian Piccolo, a standout football player for St. Thomas Aquinas, Wake Forest, and the NFL with the Chicago Bears. In addition, it gathers 40 senior student-athletes from Broward County schools who excelled both academically and on the football field. Last week, senior Donovan Lassiter would have attended. Even though we could not gather in person, a signing ceremony took place Wednesday, April 15, for Stephan Swenson. A virtual crowd assembled online to watch Stephan sign his National Letter of Intent to play basketball for Stetson University. Joining us from Brussels, Belgium, Stephan spent the last two seasons at WA. He helped guide the Lions to a 4A state title in 2019 and a district championship in 2020.
