The 2020 varsity softball season left everyone wondering what could have been. Having every player return from the 2019 season along with a few new additions, the team hoped for great success. The season kicked off on a high note with two wins. First, they won the South Florida Preseason Classic against Lourdes Academy. Then, the team celebrated an exciting walk-off win against Gulliver Prep. Another memorable victory was against district rival, Florida Christian. The team captured a come-from-behind victory, defeating the Patriots 11-10 after being down ten runs going into the 7th inning. Key moments include sophomore, Kamryn Casey hitting...

The 2020 Varsity Ladies’ and Men’s Tennis shortened season was certainly a memorable experience. Even before COVID-19, the coaches and team looked to their team motto from Jeremiah 32:27 as a reminder that God has a plan and to be thankful for every experience. Seniors J.J. Babun, Tommy Kline, Meghan McCormick, and Brandon Meade will have many memories to take away from their senior season. Meghan, especially, will always remember her undefeated senior year. These four student-athletes were great mentors for the younger players. They played an integral role in the program for many years and will be incredibly missed. This team...

Westminster Academy’s second lacrosse season was, unfortunately, shorter than expected. However, the team made the most of their time on the field and turned in another exciting and memorable season. They are the first graduates of the Westminster Academy Lacrosse program,” Head Coach Matt Salvatoriello said. Senior...

The COVID-19 pandemic shortened the WA Lions Baseball season to only nine games out of 25. However, no one can diminish the promising future to come under our new head coach and the Lions Baseball Program. The future is bright for Westminster Academy on the field! Because there are no seniors on the team this season, many underclassmen gained valuable varsity experience. The team competed bravely, fighting through tough competition right out of the gate. Six home games included a heated early-season contest against nationally-ranked Miami Christian. The men faced top teams in Dade and Broward County, including St. John Paul,...

Every year, the National Football Foundation hosts the Brian Piccolo Award Banquet. This awards dinner pays tribute to the late Brian Piccolo, a standout football player for St. Thomas Aquinas, Wake Forest, and the NFL with the Chicago Bears. In addition, it gathers 40 senior student-athletes from Broward County schools who excelled both academically and on the football field. Last week, senior Donovan Lassiter would have attended. Like all large gatherings, this event was canceled. However, it did not stop Head Football Coach, Tommy Lewis, from sharing his gratitude. He writes to his team captain: “I wanted you to know how proud...
