Broadcasting

At Westminster Academy, our Broadcasting Program engages students in grades 7–12 in the study and practice of video production and broadcasting, all within a Christ-centered, biblically-based learning environment that seeks to equip students to use their gifts for God’s glory.

Beginning in seventh and eighth grade, students are introduced to the foundational principles of video production using iPads and applications such as iMovie. They explore the entire production process—from developing ideas and writing scripts to casting, scouting locations, filming, editing, and audio design. This hands-on approach emphasizes planning, collaboration, and creativity.

Students who continue into Broadcasting I in high school build upon these fundamentals using professional software such as Adobe Premiere Pro to produce high-quality video content. They learn the aesthetics and discipline of visual storytelling while assuming various roles within a production team. Students are challenged to meet production goals and deadlines while developing both individual initiative and collaborative skills.

In Broadcasting II, III, and IV, students take on leadership roles, applying advanced production techniques as they help create Westminster Academy’s weekly news show, presented during chapel. They also undertake additional video production projects that support broader school initiatives and events. Throughout the program, students are encouraged to cultivate and steward their God-given talents, preparing them for future opportunities in media, communication, and service to the Kingdom.
