Support WA

Why Should I Give?

Each year our budget is conservatively planned, and Westminster Academy is entirely able to meet its obligations through tuition. However, giving is vital for growth, improvement and to maintain the highest level of scholarly Christian education.

Westminster Academy is committed to biblical stewardship. For Christians, stewardship is the realization that everything we have in our lives—our time, our talents, our resources, and our families—are gracious gifts from God, and that He owns it all, not just a fraction or percentage. It is our responsibility to prayerfully manage all that we have been given by God in a way that pleases Him.

At WA, we rely on the generous support of families, grandparents, alumni, alumni parents, faculty, staff, and friends. Participation at any level demonstrates a commitment of financial support and encourages others to support our mission. Corporations and foundations frequently look at the number of donors in choosing which organizations to support. Gifts of very different sizes may be equal in generosity.

As a 501C(3) non-profit organization, all gifts to Westminster Academy are deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. We are also accredited by the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA). Our operating budget is based on a fiscal year beginning July 1 through June 30. All donors will be recognized by giving levels in our annual report, the PawPrint. If you wish to remain anonymous, please note your desire when making your donation.

Where Can I Give?

Financial Assistance

Westminster Academy is committed to making a scholarly, Christian education possible, which is why we ask that you support our tuition assistance fund. Our goal for this year is to raise $350,000 for this fund used to meet the tuition needs of families, who otherwise would not be able to attend our school. One student educated at Westminster Academy can positively affect the lives of thousands. It is a need-based fund that is distributed through the recommendation of the Financial Assistance Committee (a sub-committee of the School Board). The school uses a third-party company, FACTS Grant & Aid, to assist in assessing need.

Headmaster’s Council

Members pledge to donate $2,000 or more to the Annual Fund. In appreciation for your support, members receive an invitation to the Headmaster’s Council Breakfast, complimentary admission to our regular-season home athletic games, and two tickets to the annual auction and school play.

Capital Projects

Our facilities team is committed to fostering a learning environment in which students excel. The complete renovation of the Dr. Kenneth P. Wackes Media Center is our primary project this fiscal year. The design will utilize our current square footage while improving our efficiency and addressing shifts in pedagogy, technology, and space. This project will benefit all students from Preschool through Upper School. The estimated cost for the renovation of the Dr. Kenneth P. Wackes Media Center is $750,000.

Designated Gifts

Funds restricted for a specific purpose such as fine arts, athletics, robotics, special projects, etc. are also greatly appreciated and directly benefit the program or purpose of your choosing.

How Can I Give?

Cash Donations

WA accepts cash, check, and credit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover). Cash or check may be submitted to the Development Office.

Pledge/Recurring Gift

WA appreciates gift commitments (pledges) which are documented in writing and payable by an agreed upon and specified date. Many donors also find it convenient to set up an automatic recurring gift online. A pledge does not provide the donor with an income tax deduction until the year in which it is paid. To obtain your pledge balance, contact Development Assistant, Lynn Barbar, at barbarl@wa.edu.

Securities

Gifts of financial assets like stocks and bonds are potentially more advantageous than cash gifts. The receipt for your stock transfer is based on the stock’s fair-market value on the date it is transferred to WA. These gifts provide considerable tax advantages when transferred to WA before they are sold. For assets of this type that have been held for more than one year, the gift may provide a two-fold tax benefit—creating a tax deduction as well as helping to avoid the capital gains tax from their sale. Please download the transfer form here.

Gifts In Kind

Contributions of goods and services that are given to meet the needs of the school are valued. Our annual auction is our largest fundraiser of the year and the success of this event is dependent on gifts in kind.

Corporate Partners

There are several levels of sponsorship available with the WA Corporate Partners Program. Each type of sponsorship is designed with a range of marketing benefits that are customized to support businesses and their goals.

Employer Matching Gifts

Increase your contribution at no additional cost to you! Many employers give generously to non-profit educational institutions by matching employees’ charitable contributions. Some provide matching funds to support employee volunteer hours. Most of these programs match contributions dollar for dollar, and some will even double or triple the amount of your gift.

Planned Giving

Make a plan today, that will impact students’ tomorrows. Planned giving offers individuals and families a way of making a charitable contribution to scholarly Christian education through outright gifts, bequests, annuities, insurance policies, and the establishment of endowed funds. The Development Office is prepared to assist families interested in creating a legacy as part of their overall financial and estate planning.
