What a finish! In a thrilling 10–9 victory, the Westminster Academy Lions edged out the Mater Lakes Bears to claim the 2025 FHSAA Boys Class 1A Water Polo State Championship, capping off an incredible season with a historic win. The championship game was a true test of teamwork, determination, and heart. With every pass, block, and goal, the Lions showed the strength of their training, the power of their unity, and their commitment to glorifying God through athletics. We are excited to share a remarkable milestone in Westminster Academy athletics. The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) has announced the Florida Dairy Farmers 2025 Class 2A Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball Player of the Year Awards—and for the first time ever, both recipients are from the same school—Westminster Academy! Alex Lloyd and Markeli Jones–Tynes have been honored with this prestigious recognition for their outstanding performance on the court and their leadership as student-athletes. Track and Field: State Competitors The WA Track and Field program was well represented with 22 student-athletes competing at the 1A State Championships at the University of North Florida’s Hodges Stadium on Saturday, May 10. They returned with 10 medals in seven events, with each athlete performing exceptionally well—even after a three-hour lightning. The top 8 places medal and are All-State finishers.
