Our eighth-grade students recently returned from an incredible trip to Washington, D.C.—a memorable tradition that brings classroom lessons to life while deepening their understanding of our nation’s history and Christian heritage. Led by Civics teacher Mr. Williams, the trip was designed to explore history, civic engagement, and a biblical worldview. Students toured many of our nation’s most significant sites, including the U.S. Capitol, Supreme Court, and Library of Congress, learning firsthand about the foundations of American government. Last week, we welcomed students and parents to a College Planning Evening designed to provide essential guidance on advanced coursework and the college admissions process. With a strong commitment to academic excellence and preparation, the event featured two informative sessions aimed at equipping families with the knowledge and tools necessary for success in their journey toward college. Session 1: AP and Dual Enrollment Students interested in taking Advanced Placement (AP) or Dual Enrollment courses had the opportunity to hear directly from Westminster Academy faculty about course offerings, expectations, and prerequisites. This week, fifteen grades 6-8 students competed in our annual spelling bee. After studying a list of over 400 words, seventh-grade student Sam Harms became our Spelling Bee winner, and eighth-grade student Max Sawisch the runner-up! The competition was intense, with no third-place winner as several contestants were eliminated in the same round. The final showdown between Sam and Max was epic. The championship word, “aesthetic,” secured Sam’s victory.
