Lower School

Every year, Boosterthon puts the “fun” in fundraising. While the Lower School Fun Run held on April 18 was in fact fun, it was also a huge success and raised over $25,000! This total breaks last year's! Students from PK2 through fifth grade spent two weeks getting pledges and receiving prizes. In addition, students built up their character with this year’s theme—Mind Spark. In this incredible, science-infused character theme, students helped a team of brainy kids solve problems. On Tuesday, our lower school students gathered in the gym for their very own pep-rally. While the energy was high, it was only the beginning of many exciting days ahead for the lower school. Classes are having a blast preparing for the Westminster Academy Fun Run! Each day the students learn how to solve problems using character traits through Boosterthon’s theme—MindSpark Mystery Lab. Our Scholastic Book Fair is going strong! By now, your student has come home with a wish list, and our teachers have made a wish list as well. Remember, a percentage of every book purchased goes back to WA. We invite parents to bring your family back to school tonight from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. for Family Night. Many of our classes will be performing for you that evening. Our Scholastic Book Fair begins Monday, April 1, for our lower school students and families. Located in the Lower School Science Lab, the Book Fair will be here from April 1 through April 5. The hours are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday  8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We invite parents to come by during the week. The fifth-grade students became citizens of BizTown on Wednesday when they visited Junior Achievement’s facility in Coconut Creek. This realistic setting inspires students to apply what they have learned about community and economy, work readiness, financial literacy, and business management. While at the JA BizTown facility, each student assumed a job. Then, they produced and sold products and received a paycheck. They also worked on a business team, repaid business loans, shopped, and managed a personal bank account.
