The Scholastic Book Fair is going strong this week in the Lower School Media Center. Family Night at the Book Fair is scheduled for tonight from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Many of our classes will be performing for you that evening, so be sure to arrive on time as performances begin at 6:15 p.m. The schedule is as follows: 6:15 p.m. – PreK 4 6:30 p.m. – First Grade 6:45 p.m. – Third Grade 7:15 p.m. – 5th Grade Chorus Our partner for the evening is the Fort Lauderdale Chick-fil-A, who has graciously offered 15% of their sales back to WA....

On Friday, September 13, the Lower School took to the polls! Students in the third, fourth, and fifth grades listened to their class representatives running for office, and then later voted for their choice of candidates. Twelve students in the Student Council had the option of running for treasurer, secretary, vice president, or president. Each student campaigned the entire week leading up to the speeches, and all did a wonderful job. The “need to read” was a call to action many lower school students took seriously this summer as we prepared to open our brand-new Lower School Media Center. With its Creation theme and beautiful new trees, Mrs. White, the Lower School Media Specialist, themed the summer challenge with a tree as well. The response was great! To receive a bronze medal this year, students had to read a total of at least 1,000 minutes this summer. Many students read above that and received a silver or gold medal for all their hard work.
