Lower School

School will be in session at night as we invite parents back to school. An evening in the classroom provides the opportunity to meet teachers and learn more about our classes and student expectations. We look forward to seeing our parents at the following: Middle School Back-To-School Night Thursday, August 22 6:30–8:30 p.m. High School Back-To-School Night Tuesday, August 27 6:30–8:30 p.m. Lower School Back-To-School Night Thursday, August 29 6:30–8:30 p.m. This evening is designed to be informative and is set up for parents only. Abby Adams, P.E. Teacher and Varsity Volleyball Coach —  A recent graduate from Liberty University with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, Ms. Adams will conduct physical education classes for lower school and middle school girls. She comes to South Florida originally from Indiana. We are looking forward to the first day of school, Wednesday, August 14, as we kick off the school year with a special, all-school Convocation. Students in grades 1–12, parents, faculty, and staff will gather together as a unified school family and lift up Westminster Academy in prayer as we ask for God’s blessings on the new school year. After the Convocation, we encourage parents to line up to welcome students as they make their way across the street to their first class of the school year. Throughout the school year, students in Lower School participated in the challenging Accelerated Reader program. This program strengthens reading skills and boosts comprehension. Each student is assigned a point goal to meet each quarter. They take short online quizzes and receive points based on their reading. For the 2018–19 school year, over 100 students achieved their goal for all four quarters. The two students with the highest points in each grade enjoyed a pizza party in the lower school ballet room on Tuesday, May 21.
