Lower School

When we return from Spring Break, the fourth quarter of Discover, lower school’s after school enrichment activities, will begin on Monday, March 23. Activities are beginning to fill up; however, we invite you to click here to log in or create an account and register your student for the remaining openings. The Center for  Disease Control (CDC) recently issued a statement regarding the coronavirus. We are working with other schools within CESA to determine best practices. In the meantime, please be reminded of the following guidelines when your child has symptoms of illness: Fever of 100° or above—child must not return to school until the temperature is normal for 24 hours unmedicated. If your child persists with fever (exceptionally high fevers >102) for more than 48 hours, please follow up with a doctor. The fourth and fifth-grade classes have been working hard on this year’s Science Fair. Each elementary class conducted a Science Fair experiment. Fourth grade did eight group projects in class, and fifth-grade students did individual experiments as they displayed their knowledge of the Scientific Method. The fifth-grade students presented their project before two judges on Monday, February 24. The judges were very impressed by all of the hard work, scientific thought, and creative display boards, making their job of deciding the top three very difficult. On Tuesday, February 25, our third grade competed in their spelling bee. Well-prepared and excited, the students showed their spelling expertise. After 15 rounds of intense competition, Lariza Ora won the spelling bee. Words spelled correctly that led to the final round were “nervous,” “discussion,” and “remarkable.” Caleb Carisma came in second place, and Anna Cochrane won third place.
