Lower School

We were disappointed that we could not hold our annual Pumpkin Patch this year, but God had another plan. The Lower School decided to bless elderly people residing in assisted living homes with “Encouragement Pumpkins.” The younger students decorated them, and older students added a Bible verse and a word of encouragement. These pumpkins have been placed in “quarantine,” and then student council officers will have the privilege of delivering them through a partnership with a local ministry, Heart2Heart Outreach. The Lower School Student Council is looking forward to serving the Lower School by organizing service projects and other fun activities for our lower school students. We will continue our efforts with Operation Christmas Child and raise funds for activities and those in need through candy cane and icy pop sales and valentine grams. We are excited to develop leadership skills through the Student Council and set a great example for our fellow lower school students. The fifth-grade students became citizens of BizTown on Wednesday, March 11, when they visited Junior Achievement’s facility in Coconut Creek. This realistic setting inspires students to apply what they have learned about community and economy, work readiness, financial literacy, and business management. While at the JA BizTown facility, each student assumed a job. Then, they produced and sold products and received a paycheck. They also worked on a business team, repaid business loans, shopped, and managed a personal bank account.
