Special thanks to the Varsity Cheer squad for all the spirit they brought to the basketball games. They did an amazing job pumping up our Lions fans and creating an exciting atmosphere at the games all season! The men's Soccer team played a challenging schedule this season to help prepare them for postseason play. Unfortunately, they came up short in the District finals with a tight loss against Highlands Christian in overtime. The team graduates five talented seniors: Josiah Carre, Daniel Milora, Michael Montidoro, Jahlan Paul, and Diego Rey. The high school choir performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City on April 3 as part of the Masterworks Festival Chorus with the New York City Chamber Orchestra. Select schools from around the country make up the choir of 200 voices as they performed “Jubilate Deo” by Dan Forrest and conducted by Dr. Pearl Shangkuan. Dan Forrest was also commissioned to write the arrangement of Great is Thy Faithfulness for Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church’s 60th anniversary last year. ​Dear WA Community, When our girls were little, they loved the movie The Sound of Music. As a result, I’ve watched it more times than I can remember or count. However, those days are long gone, and while I can no longer recall the dialogue, these words of Julie Andrews are forever etched in my memory, “Let’s start at the very beginning, a very good place to start….” The Westminster Academy lexicon includes something with a similar theme, “Begin with the end in mind.” I never had the chance to ask Dr. Wackes if he was inspired by the singing Van Trapp family...
