Our annual dinner auction, Passport to Paris, presented by Benedetti Orthodontics, will be held on Friday, March 22, at 6:30 p.m. at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa. Please save the date for this exciting evening of fellowship and fundraising for our school. Ticket sales begin February 8. This is the largest fundraising event of the year, so please get involved! Thank you to our WA community for your generosity! Since the beginning of our fiscal year on July 1, we have received over $450,000 towards our Annual Fund goal of $725,000. Combined with designated donations, total giving exceeds $1.5 million. The Westminster Academy Annual Fund serves to invest in people, strengthen programs, and enhance places on our campuses. Service is a trait we focus on throughout the school. Our Lower School students had a wonderful opportunity to be a part of blessing students at College Susan Schuenke in Haiti. The Lower School Student Council packed over 300 bags with presents for each student at the school. They also made Gospel bracelets to help share the love of Christ. We are excited to share that the Westminster Academy Lions basketball team has earned the opportunity to participate in the City of Palms Classic held at the Suncoast Credit Union Arena on the campus of Florida Southwestern State College in Fort Myers, Florida. We were honored to welcome Dr. Alveda King to our campus last week. Dr. King is the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. She is an author, speaker, and activist with a passion for the pro-life cause. Dr. King serves as a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Faith & Culture and is the Chair of the Center for the American Dream at America First Policy Institute.
