The Lions Parent Association will host a fishing tournament on Friday, April 1. The tournament will begin at 7:30 a.m. from the Hillsboro Inlet. Weigh-ins will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Sands Harbor Resort & Marina, followed by an awards ceremony at 4:00 p.m. You may use your own boat or join us on a drift boat that will be available. The Golden Ticket, presented by Benedetti Orthodontics, will be held on Friday, April 22, at 6:30 p.m. This is the largest fundraising event of the year, so please get involved! Our awesome WA Junior Thespians spent last weekend in Orlando at the Florida State Junior Thespian Festival. These talented 6th–8th-grade students attended performance workshops, then competed in multiple events to showcase their acting, singing, and overall performance abilities. To qualify to attend the State Festival, they first had to compete and receive a high enough score at the District level, which happened locally in November. At that competition, nine of our performance and technical theater “events” scored in that range, so those events are what the students then presented in Orlando. This week our 6th through 8th-grade students competed in our annual spelling bee. Seventh-grade student, Olivia Faber, won the bee and will represent Westminster Academy at the Miami Herald/Scripps National Spelling Bee for Broward County next year. Nicholas Sirois (also in 7th grade) was the runner-up, followed by 8th-grade student Daniel Pucé. Last month, we held our 4th and 5th-grade spelling bee. The students were well-prepared and excited to show their spelling expertise. After 13 rounds and 147 words of intense competition, Siri Deenah won the spelling bee.
