Our eighth-grade students recently returned from an incredible trip to Washington, D.C.—a memorable tradition that brings classroom lessons to life while deepening their understanding of our nation’s history and Christian heritage. Led by Civics teacher Mr. Williams, the trip was designed to explore history, civic engagement, and a biblical worldview. Students toured many of our nation’s most significant sites, including the U.S. Capitol, Supreme Court, and Library of Congress, learning firsthand about the foundations of American government. At Westminster Academy, service is more than an activity—it’s an opportunity for our students to put their faith into action and live out the call to love our neighbors. Recently, our PREP 4 and PREP 5 students did just that through a meaningful service project with CROS Ministries. Our students spent the day gleaning in the fields, harvesting nearly 3,000 pounds of fresh peppers. These peppers were donated to local food banks and the VA hospital to bless veterans and families experiencing food insecurity in our tri-county area. Our fourth-grade students recently enjoyed an unforgettable adventure to St. Augustine, the nation’s oldest city. This annual trip provided a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience the rich history they’ve studied in Social Studies throughout the year. During the trip, students explored the historic Castillo de San Marcos, visited a Spanish Mission, climbed the iconic St. Augustine Lighthouse, and even discovered the legendary Fountain of Youth. Each stop brought Florida’s history to life, allowing students to connect classroom lessons with real-world experiences.
