On Wednesday, May 10, we had the privilege of having Dr. Ben Carson on campus to speak to students in grades K–12. Dr. Carson has served as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and the Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, among many other accomplishments. In 2016, Dr. Carson accepted the position of Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under the Trump administration. After completing his tenure as the 17th Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development in 2021, Dr. Carson founded the American Cornerstone Institute. We are thrilled to share that the 2023 auction, Chart the Course, raised over $523,000, the highest gross proceeds in school history! This includes over $86,000 for the James F. Lindsay Gymnasium renovation, which is already in progress. Congratulations to Mr. Chris Clements for receiving the South Florida Business Journal’s 2023 CFO Award! Mr. Clements is the Senior VP and CFO for the Miami Dolphins, Hard Rock Stadium, and Miami Grand Prix. With mixed emotions, we share that Mrs. Lisa Wilson will be transitioning from her role at Westminster Academy as Director of Fine Arts to the Director of the Center for Music and the Arts at the Institute for Faith and Culture at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. The Center will collaborate with the Coral Ridge Music Ministry, which is under the leadership of her husband, Dr. John Wilson, and will seek to recapture the Church’s role in influencing the cultural sphere of music and the arts.
