Students in grades 6–12 recently collected 2,215 items consisting of diapers, wipes, and various toiletries for Every Mother’s Advocate. Dear WA Community, In this Golden Year, we have the opportunity to look back and celebrate what God has done in and through Westminster Academy. That backward glance also merits a chuckle or two, especially as we see how our school has changed during those five decades. This is rather evident in fashion (thankfully no more polyester leisure suits), technology (think phones and laptops), and even in the campus (in 1971, we held class at the Pompano Beach horse track). Miriam Avila, P.E. Teacher and Assistant Swimming Coach—Coach Avila graduated from Kansas State University with a Master’s Degree in Public Health with an emphasis in physical activity. Coach Avila will conduct P.E. classes for lower school and middle school girls. Originally from Mexico, she is passionate about understanding and educating people about healthy behavior. We are looking forward to another exciting year in athletics at WA. We will be selling the stadium-style box seating in the gymnasium and football stadium to help raise funds for the basketball, cheer, football, and volleyball programs.
