15 May WA Athletics 2025 Spring Season Wrap-Up

Track and Field: State Competitors
The WA Track and Field program was well represented with 22 student-athletes competing at the 1A State Championships at the University of North Florida’s Hodges Stadium on Saturday, May 10. They returned with 10 medals in seven events, with each athlete performing exceptionally well—even after a three-hour lightning. The top 8 places medal and are All-State finishers. Congratulations to all of our state competitors and medalists!
- The men’s team placed 9th overall with 25.5 points, led by senior Jonathan Peña (3rd in the 1600m – 4:23 and 5th in the 3200m – 9:18, setting a school record)
- Joshua Williams (3rd in high jump – 6’3″, 5th in long jump – 22’1″, and 9th in triple jump – 43’9″)
- The 4×800 relay team of Jonah Nowicki, Jonathan Peña, Sam Carre, and Lucas Latimore, who took 4th with a season-best 8:09, the #2 time in school history
- D.J. Pierce added an 8th-place finish in the pole vault (12’9”, a PR)
- Other strong performances included Cooper Herrmann (110 hurdles), Lucas Latimore (1600), and the men’s 4×100 relay team
- On the ladies’ side, Sophia Elmer earned a 7th-place medal in the high jump (5’0”)
- Chloe Conrad (10th in discus – PR)
- Skylar Freas (13th in triple jump – PR)
- Both the Ladies’ 4×800 and 4×100 relay teams put in solid efforts.
Varsity Softball: District Champions
The Lions Softball team captured their fifth consecutive District title this season, finishing with a 16-12 record and making it to the Regional Semifinal game.
