Currently, the weather forecasts a sunny day with mild winds on Friday, April 20. So, plan to join us for our 9th Annual Fishing Tournament brought to you by Journey Kids Dental! The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 7:00 a.m. from the Hillsboro Inlet. Then, weigh-ins will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the home of Tom Ellis. Although WA Key Club is new to DCON, the annual district conference, the student representatives were all in! The 2018-19 officers in attendance were: Sierra Sollars, Vice President; Clara Harms, Treasurer; Mia Hibler, Secretary; and Christiana Hewlett, Chaplain/Class Director. Junior Ava Gaus received an award for submitting all of the district reports on time. Our Key Club also received the Early Bird Dues Award. In addition, two officers were assigned as voting delegates for the State Officer election, and two volunteered to be “Sergeant at Arms” at the House of Delegates. Every year, Boosterthon puts the “fun” in fundraising. While the Lower School Fun Run held on March 29 was in fact fun, it was also a huge success and raised over $22,000! Students from PK2 through fifth grade spent two weeks getting pledges and receiving prizes. In addition, students built up their character with this year’s theme—Castle Quest. As a result, students learned how to be brave with the six virtues of a true hero. The event culminated on the field with the run, taking 35+ laps around the track. Perhaps for Lower School, the Boosterthon Fun Run is the best event next to Christmas. Today was no exception. Students from PK2 through fifth grade spent the past two weeks getting pledges, receiving prizes, and building up their character. This year’s theme, Castle Quest, taught students how to be brave with the six virtues of a true hero. The event culminated today on the field with the run, taking 35+ laps around the track.
