Support WA

A Tradition of Generosity

The distinctive qualities that a Christian, private school education provides require a combination of tuition and charitable donations. The Annual Fund serves to invest in people, strengthen programs, and enhance places on our campuses. Your Annual Fund gift is fully tax deductible, while a tuition payment is not. Unrestricted gifts to the Annual Fund give the school the greatest flexibility and are our number one priority. This year’s annual fund goal is $550,000.

Every year, the school strives for a high level of participation from the School Board, faculty, staff, current families, alumni, alumni families, grandparents and friends of the school. Our fiscal year runs July 1 to June 30 and every parent is encouraged to participate every year.

Every family is asked to support the Annual Fund. Our goal is 100% participation. This symbolizes a collective investment in the school’s excellence and also increases opportunities for funding through grants.

Every gift, regardless of the amount, enhances the WA experience and is an investment in the mission of our school. Each fall, The PawPrint recognizes all of our donors’ contributions by giving level from the prior fiscal year.

Participation at any level demonstrates a commitment of financial support and encourages others to support our mission. Gifts of very different sizes may be equal in generosity.

Annual Fund Goal $550,0000%

As a 501C(3) non‐profit organization, all gifts to Westminster Academy are deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. We are also accredited by the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA). Our operating budget is based on a fiscal year beginning July 1 through June 30. All donors will be recognized by giving levels in our annual report, the PawPrint. If you wish to remain anonymous, please note your desire when making your donation.

Where Can I Give?

Annual Fund

The purpose of the Annual Fund is to:

Invest in People—Tuition assistance, faculty professional development, and a benevolence fund for families experiencing hardship.

Strengthen Programs—Academic enhancements, technology, increased support for student activities including athletics, fine arts and robotics.

Enhance Places—Accelerated schedule for complete renovation of classrooms and new scoreboards at the West Campus Athletic Complex.

Capital Projects

The school launches capital campaigns as needs arise for specific initiatives. Capital campaign gifts are usually larger in size than an Annual Fund contribution and may be pledged over multiple years. During a campaign, donors are asked to support both the Annual Fund and the campaign, ensuring Annual Fund initiatives are sustained while embarking on major fundraising initiatives.

Designated Gifts

Funds restricted for a specific purpose such as fine arts, athletics, robotics, special projects, etc. are also greatly appreciated and directly benefit the program or purpose of your choosing.

Levels of Giving

The level of giving is a personal decision for each family. All those who give a gift of $2,000 or more are considered Headmaster’s Council Members and will be invited to a forthcoming appreciation event with the Headmaster and School Board. Members also receive free admission to home athletic events, as well as two tickets for the auction and the school play.

NEW! Roaring Fans give $25 or more per month. You can easily set up a recurring gift online at wa.edu/donate. Your donation makes a difference as we can count on the consistency of your monthly support.

  • Headmaster’s Council: $2,000 to $9,999

How Can I Give?

Cash Donations

WA accepts cash, check, and credit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover). Cash or check may be submitted to the Development Office.

Pledge/Recurring Gift

WA appreciates gift commitments (pledges) which are documented in writing and payable by an agreed upon and specified date. Many donors also find it convenient to set up an automatic recurring gift online. A pledge does not provide the donor with an income tax deduction until the year in which it is paid. To obtain your pledge balance, contact Development Assistant, Lynn Barbar, at barbarl@wa.edu.

Securities

Gifts of financial assets like stocks and bonds are potentially more advantageous than cash gifts. The receipt for your stock transfer is based on the stock’s fair‐market value on the date it is transferred to WA. These gifts provide considerable tax advantages when transferred to WA before they are sold. For assets of this type that have been held for more than one year, the gift may provide a two‐fold tax benefit—creating a tax deduction as well as helping to avoid the capital gains tax from their sale. Please download the transfer form here.

Gifts In Kind

Contributions of goods and services that are given to meet the needs of the school are valued. Our annual auction is our largest fundraiser of the year and the success of this event is dependent on gifts in kind.

Corporate Partners

There are several levels of sponsorship available with the WA Corporate Partners Program. Each type of sponsorship is designed with a range of marketing benefits that are customized to support businesses and their goals.

Employer Matching Gifts

Increase your contribution at no additional cost to you! Many employers give generously to non‐profit educational institutions by matching employees’ charitable contributions. Some provide matching funds to support employee volunteer hours. Most of these programs match contributions dollar for dollar, and some will even double or triple the amount of your gift.

Planned Giving

Make a plan today, that will impact students’ tomorrows. Planned giving offers individuals and families a way of making a charitable contribution to scholarly Christian education through outright gifts, bequests, annuities, insurance policies, and the establishment of endowed funds. The Development Office is prepared to assist families interested in creating a legacy as part of their overall financial and estate planning.
