Westminster Academy is excited to celebrate outstanding student achievement in the fine arts. Felipe Rubio was selected as one of only six students selected for the prestigious Broward County All-County Band, chosen from 30 auditioning students across the county. His selection reflects exceptional musicianship, dedication, and hard work. WA was also well represented at the Broward County All-County Orchestra, the culminating concert showcasing some of Broward’s most accomplished young musicians. Students are selected through teacher recommendation (Bronze) and competitive auditions (Silver and Gold), with limited spots available across public and private schools. This year marked an exciting milestone as WA students participated in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for the first time, the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative teens, founded in 1923. Artwork is judged at the regional level, with top entries advancing to national consideration. Congratulations to Kathryn Rose Wright (11th), who earned a Silver Key for her charcoal drawing “Kyle,” and Margaux De Sousa (11th), who received an Honorable Mention for her pen and ink piece “Strange Eyeball.” Their creativity, dedication, and artistic achievement are a wonderful reflection of the talent within our Fine Arts program....

Our WA Jr. Thespians had an outstanding weekend at the States Competition in Orlando, earning 9 Excellent and 3 Superior ratings in performance and technical events. Superior Honors: Isabella Martinez – Monologue from Funny Girl Mila Blackmon – Costume Design (Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical) Akaila Bhola – Publicity/Marketing Design (Mean Girls: High School Edition) Students also received Excellent ratings across solos, duets, small-group acting, large-group musical numbers from Anastasia: Teen Edition, and multiple technical categories.
