WA is not the only one celebrating the success of our Men’s Basketball Team. Their accomplishment got the attention of many in our community. Westminster Academy is only the second school to ever win three consecutive state championships in Broward County. Therefore, Commissioner Lamar Fisher wrote a proclamation. He designated Wednesday, March 27, 2019, as “Westminster Academy Men’s Varsity Basketball Team Day” in Broward County.We celebrated the official day in the upper school chapel. While coming home with the State Championship Title was enough to celebrate, the awards for WA Basketball keep coming.The Florida High School Athletic Association named WA senior Chase Johnston the 4A Men's Basketball Player of the Year. Chase's accomplishments this year on the court include breaking a few records. First, he scored 52 points in a single game at the Montverde Academy Invitational, breaking the previous record held by Ben Simmons who is now a professional basketball player.
