When we launched our 50th Anniversary with the Celebration Weekend in the fall, we opened the time capsule from 1996 during a special chapel. This spring, following our National Day of Prayer Chapel, we prayed for the future students, our current student body, and those who will follow. The Lady Lions Basketball Team won the State Championship after defeating Cardinal Mooney 44–41 in Lakeland! The road to the championship was paved with several tournaments, including the Insider Exposure Tournament in Jacksonville, the Shark Showdown in Naples, the Tampa Bay Invitational in Tampa, and the She Got Game Tournament in Atlanta. We have coordinated student-led service projects to demonstrate our faith in action. Our Upper School service days are called “Rooted & Grounded,” following the school theme “Rooted” from Jeremiah 17:8. Students in grades 6–12 recently collected 2,215 items consisting of diapers, wipes, and various toiletries for Every Mother’s Advocate. These items will bless single moms and their families who are in need in our community. Charlee Tchividjian, Founder & Executive Director, was blown away by the results of our Collection Drive. While a few Homecoming traditions were put on hold this year due to COVID, school spirit was on full display through decorated hallways and dress-up days. The Homecoming football game was an eventful one, as a limited crowd joined us at the west campus Athletic Complex to cheer on the Lions as they took on the Saint Andrews School Scots. Although the Lions came up short, they fought hard throughout the game and had an impressive showing in the second half, where they outscored the Scots 27-0.
