Congratulations to our WA Junior Thespian Troupe, who recently participated in the Orlando Florida State Junior Thespian competition. Our students shined for God’s glory throughout the competition! Two of our sixth graders in the technical categories submitted costume designs and presented their ideas to judges from prestigious theater companies. Another presented his stage set design to a panel of judges, including a Disney Cruise Line stage productions director. For the performance events, our students competed in improvisation, large and small group musicals, and solo events, judged by a panel of Broadway singers and New York producers. The Lower School/PREP Fun Run was held in early February and was a huge success, beating the original goal and raising over $60,000! These funds will help provide for STEM lab enhancements and communication upgrades. Congratulations to Miss Johnston’s kindergarten class, the top donating class, who earned a special lunch with Dr. Satterly, the WA varsity basketball players, and the WA cheerleaders! Students from PK2 through sixth grade spent two weeks getting pledges and receiving prizes. Fine Arts students have been active this quarter around the state! The 6th–8th-Grade Band and Orchestra students enjoyed a unique performance from The New World Symphony at their performing arts center in Miami Beach, the New World Center for the Arts. Students were inspired by these accomplished musicians and challenged in their musical education through instructional activities woven throughout the performance. Several Westminster Academy orchestra students were selected to participate in the 2023–24 All Broward County Honor Orchestra.
