Church And School Leadership Share Messages With Students As Chapels Kick Off

Schoolwide Chapels officially kicked off, starting with Lower School Chapel last week. Students had a chance to come together to worship and hear from the first guest speaker Dr. Satterly. He spoke about our theme for the year, Cultivate, based on Colossians 2:6–8, “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.” Using an ear of corn as a prop to show the students that just like corn is planted, grown, and harvested, so too are the students being cultivated in their faith and growing in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus.

Upper School Chapel began this week with guest speaker Pastor Rob Pacienza who spoke about God’s definition of love. He asked the students, “where are the men and women in this room who will rise up and be the bearers of truth and grace?” He charged them to take God’s truth into the world in order to tear down the strongholds of our culture. His message was that truth minus grace is condemnation, and grace minus truth is compromise.
