Stellar performances by WA’s athletic program in the 2016–2017 school year have led to a first-place finish in the Boys Division of the Floyd E. Lay Sunshine Cup All-Sports Award presented by the Florida High School Athletic Association! State Championships won by Varsity Boys Cross Country, Basketball, and Track & Field sealed the lead by an overwhelming margin. Points are awarded to the 707 member high schools based on finishes in the FHSAA State Series competitions. Our annual golf tournament sponsored by Benedetti Orthodontics will be held on Monday, October 23, at the Coral Ridge Country Club at 11:00 a.m. The cost is $250 per golfer/$1000 per foursome. Last year, the men’ cross country team took the state title for the sixth time in WA history—the first since 1988. With six of the seven returning this year, the Lions looks to make another mark in state history. Virtually the entire team has recorded more summer miles than any year previous displaying team unity, deep friendships, commitment to group goals, and a willingness to sacrifice for achievement.
