Trees Of Hope Presents Sexual Abuse Prevention Workshop

TreesofhopesignatureThe Sexual Abuse Prevention Workshop presented by Trees of Hope has been rescheduled to Thursday, November 16, in the Sanctuary at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Join us as we learn more about the startling statistics regarding sexual abuse, and what you can do as parents to help protect our children. Ninety percent of sexual abuse is preventable through teaching and training. Trees of Hope firmly believes in order to stop sexual abuse from destroying a person’s life, we must start with training the parents of a child so they can safeguard them from ever experiencing it in the first place.

The cost is $10.00 per person for materials. You may register at the door or online at treesofhope.org.

Hurricane Relief Projects

As we return to normalcy and anticipate the excitement of next week’s homecoming activities, school leadership has been able to firm up plans for actions that can be taken to help those who were in the paths of Irma and Maria. We understand that opportunities abound and many have already pitched in and helped—both physically and financially.

The following hurricane relief projects have been identified as ones that our students can engage in and be of most help.

Our lower school students will take part in “Fill the Box!”—a campaign led by Miss Leah Polhemus to fill boxes with school supplies to send to St. John Christian Academy in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Miss Polhemus taught at this school before joining WA. She has been in direct contact with the school, and while basic needs have been met, they are in desperate need of school supplies.

Our middle school students will help by filling buckets with cleaning supplies that will be used for an upcoming high school trip, in partnership with Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, to help Island Christian School in Islamorada in the Florida Keys. Island Christian School is a like-minded school with a long-standing relationship to WA. While there, our high school students will work to restore the area.

It is our desire that these projects will benefit those who have been affected by the storms, develop a sense of serving in our students, and demonstrate Christ’s love to others.

We will be sending out grade-specific details to parents and students soon.

Coral Ridge Children’s Choir Opportunities

logoJoin us Thursday afternoons for two new musical opportunities for children. These after-school choir programs will teach your child essential singing and music literacy skills while experiencing the joy of making music. Singing is a powerful tool for bringing people together, and by fostering a spirit of teamwork and camaraderie, your child will gain confidence in their musical abilities as they build long-lasting friendships.

We have two grade-level choirs:

The Chapel Choir is for those in kindergarten through third grade. This program will lay the foundation of music reading and vocal production while introducing children to a variety of musical styles. Chapel Choir will sing in worship once every eight weeks and will participate in the Christmas at Coral Ridge Concert on Friday, December 15.

Chapel Choir:
Time: 3:30 p.m to 4:15 p.m.
Location: CRPC Choir Room
Director: Lidia Blatz
Contact Email: blatzl@wa.edu

The Kings and Angels is for fourth through seventh grade. These young singers will be challenged as they learn to sing in two and three-part harmony. Further development of their ear training and sight-reading skills will strengthen their musicianship, allowing them to perform more advanced music. Kings and Angels will sing in worship once every six weeks and will participate in the Christmas at Coral Ridge Concert on Friday, December 15.

Kings & Angels:
Time: 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Location: First Floor Meeting Room (adjacent to choir room)

On May 16, Anne Lewis Kennedy, entered the Lord’s presence. As you may know, she was the wife of Dr. D. Screen Shot 2017-05-18 at 11.48.45 AMJames Kennedy who founded Westminster Academy and Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, as well as several other ministries. She died peacefully with her loving daughter, Jennifer, by her side. As the First Lady of Coral Ridge, Anne partnered with her husband to reach this community, the nation, and our world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Although we mourn her passing, we rejoice that she is at home with her Savior and experiencing the glory of Heaven. Please be in prayer for her daughter, Jennifer, and son-in-law, Chip, in this time of loss. Please visit crpc.org/anne-kennedy for details on her viewing and memorial service.
