Join us for the second annual Westminster Academy Thespian Showcase Night on Friday, January 24, at 7:00 p.m. in the DeVos Chapel! Enjoy an unforgettable evening of drama, desserts, and outstanding performances as our talented theater students present their work before heading to state competitions in Tampa and Orlando later this year. This past Saturday, our WA Junior Thespians showcased their talents at the District Competition held at Somerset Academy in Pembroke Pines. Competing in a range of performance and technical theater categories, they earned an impressive nine Superior and 20 Excellent ratings from the judges. A special shoutout to Akaila Bhola (Grade 6), who received Honorable Mention/Judges Choice for her outstanding marketing designs! Our fine arts department hosted several renowned clinicians for our band and orchestra students! They brought their expertise and passion to inspire our young musicians. Featured Clinicians: Jean Caze is a Jazz legend who has played with the biggest names in music and is now a featured soloist for Michael Bublé. Beyond his performances, Jean is a dedicated educator, imparting his expertise to aspiring musicians and earning acclaim for his lyrical tone and inventive approach. Congratulations to our WA District 7 Thespian Troupe 8570 for their outstanding performances at the 2024 Florida State Thespian competition in Tampa. We are excited to announce that all high school students who performed received an excellent or superior rating! Congratulations to our WA Junior Thespian Troupe, who recently participated in the Orlando Florida State Junior Thespian competition. Our students shined for God’s glory throughout the competition! Two of our sixth graders in the technical categories submitted costume designs and presented their ideas to judges from prestigious theater companies. Another presented his stage set design to a panel of judges, including a Disney Cruise Line stage productions director. For the performance events, our students competed in improvisation, large and small group musicals, and solo events, judged by a panel of Broadway singers and New York producers.
