Over the last month, students from lower school, PREP, and upper school had the opportunity to attend various field trips spanning the state of Florida all the way up to Boston, Massachusetts. These trips have provided many educational opportunities as well as a chance for camaraderie with fellow students. As we begin the second half of the school year, we would like to share an update regarding school leadership. Effective as of January 1, Dr. Ron Farrar has been promoted to the position of Assistant Headmaster in addition to his role as Upper School Principal. In November, fifteen students in grades 6-8 competed in our annual spelling bee. After studying a list of over 400 words, eighth-grade student, Olivia Faber, won the bee with the championship word “undine”. Olivia will go on to represent WA virtually at the regional qualifiers on February 23. With that in mind, we would like to congratulate our headmaster, Dr. Joel Satterly, for completing the Doctor of Ministry program through Knox Theological Seminary—a journey that began during the pandemic and was completed in 20 months. Last week Westminster Academy Latin students attended the 73rd Florida Junior Classical League State Latin Forum held April 7–9, at the Wyndham Orlando Resort and Convention Center. Our students competed with over 900 students representing 38 schools throughout Florida.
