Fifth Grade Biscayne Nature Center Visit

February 22, 2018 Posted in: Academics Tags: ,

Biscayne-Nature-CenterEarlier this month, the fifth-grade class ventured off to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center on a seagrass adventure. There the students dragged nets in the seagrass to discover a collection of sea life. There was sea life of all shapes and sizes living in the seagrass. From seahorses to sea urchins, pipefish to starfish, the variety of sea life was an amazing discovery. The naturalist guide then identified each species, making sure everyone got a good look before gently releasing the catch. These seagrass beds are a rich ecosystem, and this was fun for all, as they discovered a net full of God’s creation.

WA Field Day For Lower School

February 15, 2018 Posted in: Athletics Tags:

field-dayStudents from kindergarten to third grade enjoyed a beautiful day on the field Monday, February 12, while participating in this year’s WA Field Day. This event was a huge success that allowed the students to compete in various activities and games against other classmates from their grade. While there was still an element of competitiveness, this year’s event was to promote physical activity, instead of solely on winning each event.

The students competed in the following events:

    • An obstacle course
    • Sack and three-legged races
    • Sports-themed games
    • Relay races
    • Jump roping and hula hoop

Thank you to Coach Lewis, Coach Wheeler, and all of the parent volunteers who made the event possible.
