Each year, the Broward County Non-Public School Association recognizes exceptional students. Therefore, Westminster Academy honored three students with the Pinnacle Award. Congratulations to Lawrence Parker, fifth grade, Katherine Calvet, eighth grade, and Clara Harms, twelfth grade! These students received the Pinnacle Awards for Westminster Academy for the 2019–2020 school year. This award recognizes students who set an example in their actions at home, in school, and in the community. During this week of remote learning, our lower school and upper school principals spent time roaming the virtual halls and popping into classrooms. On Tuesday, March 10, lower school students enjoyed a beautiful day on the field while participating in this year’s WA Field Day. Packed full of fun and games, the day included various sports-related activities and competitions. In the morning, Kindergarten through Second Grade took part in sports to promote physical activity rather than solely competition. However, in the afternoon, Third through Fifth Grader showed their athletic abilities through track and field events and swimming in WA’s first “Field Day Olympics.” Because the Summer Olympics occur this year, the students could learn about the event by simulating our own Olympics at WA....

On Tuesday, February 25, our third grade competed in their spelling bee. Well-prepared and excited, the students showed their spelling expertise. After 15 rounds of intense competition, Lariza Ora won the spelling bee. Words spelled correctly that led to the final round were “nervous,” “discussion,” and “remarkable.” Caleb Carisma came in second place, and Anna Cochrane won third place. Westminster Academy has a variety of activities planned for your child this summer. Offering a wide range of structured activities, Camp WA will be loads of fun! It’s open to children turning two before September 1 through those going into sixth grade in the fall.
