The WA community spent this week putting the finishing touch on another school year. Exams were completed and year-end parties filled our swimming pool and other locations around town. Our fifth-grade students are now ready for middle school, and our eighth-grade students will move over to the high school hallways. Finally, our seniors will commence on a new journey outside our walls. Tomorrow night, they will join the ranks of WA alumni.This is the final edition of the eNews for this school year. On Tuesday, our lower school students gathered in the gym for their very own pep-rally. While the energy was high, it was only the beginning of many exciting days ahead for the lower school. Classes are having a blast preparing for the Westminster Academy Fun Run!Each day the students learn how to solve problems using character traits through Boosterthon’s theme—MindSpark Mystery Lab. While they’re teaming up with the MindSpark Kids to solve mysteries, the students learn five 21st-century character traits that will help strengthen themselves and our world. We join Coach Sam Freas, Director of WA Aquatics, and his family in grieving the loss of his father, Dr. Sam Freas.Dr. Freas was a legendary swim coach who left a distinct mark on swimming programs wherever he went. He served as head coach at Arkansas, Hawaii, and Louisiana State, SUNY-Potsdam and Allegheny College. He was currently serving as head swim coach of Oklahoma Baptist University. The WA baseball season officially began last week with Opening Day on Thursday, February 28. Thanks to preseason preparation and supportive parents, our team is ready for a winning season! While the team worked on their baseball skills on the field this past month, their parents showed their trade skills on the facility. A workday proved fruitful with over 30 parents and players who volunteered their time to prepare for the season.
