Summary

Westminster Academy is seeking a qualified Staff Accountant to support the business operations of the school. The ideal candidate will bring professional experience in accounting, a deep understanding of financial operations, and a heart to serve within a Christian educational environment. This role supports the Director of Finance and plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, generating reports, and contributing to the responsible stewardship of the school’s resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with internal accounts, fixed asset schedules, and departmental budgets.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and reports.
  • Reconcile bank statements and prepare journal entries.
  • Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and collections.
  • Maintain accurate ledger entries and assist with issuing checks and payments.
  • Verify pricing on requisitions and assist with audit preparation.
  • Collaborate on multi-year financial projections and strategic financial planning.
  • Provide assistance in preparing documentation for annual financial audits.
  • Work with QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and other financial tools to ensure accurate data management.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support reporting on the chart of accounts, cash flow, A/P and A/R, and balance sheets.
  • Assist with employee wage analysis and projections.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as school policies.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Finance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum two years of professional accounting experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks or similar financial software is required.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with accuracy and integrity.
  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and agreement with Westminster Academy’s Statement of Faith.
