Eighth-Grade Washington, D.C. Experience

Eighth-Grade Washington, D.C. Experience

Our eighth-grade students recently returned from an unforgettable trip to Washington, D.C.—a cherished Westminster Academy tradition that brings history to life while deepening their understanding of our nation’s foundations and Christian heritage.

Led by Civics teacher Mr. Williams, students explored many of our nation’s most significant landmarks, including the White House, the U.S. Capitol, the Supreme Court, and the Library of Congress. They also visited iconic memorials such as the Lincoln, WWII, Vietnam, Korean War, MLK, and Jefferson Memorials.

The group toured the Museum of the Bible, the National Archives, and the Holocaust Museum, reflecting on the role of faith and history in shaping our nation. A time of worship at St. John’s Church—known as the “President’s Church”—provided a meaningful reminder of God’s presence throughout our country’s history and in our nation’s leadership.

We are grateful to our teachers, staff, and chaperones for making this impactful experience possible—one that continues to strengthen students’ knowledge, faith, and appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy.
