Leadership Broward Foundation (LBF) has served the county as a catalyst for change for 37 years. Their programs help emerging and recognized leaders expand their skills and enhance their knowledge of local and state issues. Similarly, their nine-month program, Youth Leadership Broward (YLB), focuses on developing students. Each year, YLB selects 55 current sophomores from across Broward County to participate in this program during their junior year. Congratulations to Varsity Ladies' Tennis! The team captured the District title on Tuesday, April 16 at the Weston Tennis Center. The following are highlights from the District tournament: Number One in Doubles: Kali Cafaro and Katharine Calvet District Doubles Number Two Champions: Meghan McCormick and MaryKait Reeder District Singles Champions: Katharine Calvet (Number two), Meghan McCormick (Number three), and MaryKait Reeder (Number five). Dear WA Community, This year, our faculty and staff have been studying Romans 12:1-2 together. Texts regarding the importance of worldview often include this passage. As worldview formation is integral to the mission of Christian education, these verses are both significant and instructive to us at WA. After taking a look at these verses again this morning, I unpacked the basics of worldview and its importance with our parents during One Cup. Current families, alumni families, grandparents, faculty and staff, and friends of WA exceeded our expectations! As of April 1, total giving for this year is $1,047,828! This total includes $56,000 for the Collaboratory. This contemporary student-centered learning environment is STEM-focused and age-appropriate for both our Lower and Middle School students. In addition, this total includes $669,034 in unrestricted gifts for the Annual Fund. Donors also gave above and beyond to support various experiences. On Tuesday, our lower school students gathered in the gym for their very own pep-rally. While the energy was high, it was only the beginning of many exciting days ahead for the lower school. Classes are having a blast preparing for the Westminster Academy Fun Run! Each day the students learn how to solve problems using character traits through Boosterthon’s theme—MindSpark Mystery Lab. While they’re teaming up with the MindSpark Kids to solve mysteries, the students learn five 21st-century character traits that will help strengthen themselves and our world.
