Our Scholastic Book Fair is going strong! By now, your student has come home with a wish list, and our teachers have made a wish list as well. Remember, a percentage of every book purchased goes back to WA. We invite parents to bring your family back to school tonight from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. for Family Night. Many of our classes will be performing for you that evening. The Lions’ Parent Association welcomes you to join Mr. Satterly for coffee and pastries on Thursday, April 11, at 8:00 a.m. in Gangway (entry from the southwest corner of the church). Designed for busy parents, One Cup is an opportunity to gather in an informal setting to discuss a parenting topic in about the time it takes to drink a cup of coffee. We look forward to next week when we’ll enjoy our talented students perform the musical, Once Upon A Mattress, the story of the Princess and the Pea. WA is not the only one celebrating the success of our Men’s Basketball Team. Their accomplishment got the attention of many in our community. Westminster Academy is only the second school to ever win three consecutive state championships in Broward County. Therefore, Commissioner Lamar Fisher wrote a proclamation. He designated Wednesday, March 27, 2019, as “Westminster Academy Men’s Varsity Basketball Team Day” in Broward County. We celebrated the official day in the upper school chapel. On Saturday, March 2, our recently appointed team captain, junior Chase Lalonde, suffered a traumatic injury during our inaugural lacrosse game. Unable to move his arms or legs, Chase was air-lifted to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital at Memorial Regional for emergency spinal cord surgery. Dr. Andrew Rosenthal, Director of Trauma, shared, “When he was flown over to us, we were immediately worried about him having a permanent quadriplegia, but as it turns out, with timely surgery, with outstanding ICU care, and in the rehab ward, he did as well as we could possibly have hoped.” Once Chase entered the pediatric rehab...
