Congratulations to the Westminster Academy High School Choir on their acceptance to the Disney Candlelight Processional! The Candlelight Processional is a Disney tradition—a fifty-minute show presenting the Christmas Story. Our high school choir will be among the 300 voices joining the Disney’s Voices of Liberty Choir. In addition, a 50-piece professional orchestra with herald trumpets and a celebrity narrator complete the moving performance. WA Fine Arts is excited to announce the 2020 Spring Musical will be The Sound of Music. Next week, October 7–11, the high school drama department will hold auditions to cast the show. For students interested, auditions will take place in Mrs. Cox’s Room, 206, from 3:15–5:30 p.m., Monday through Wednesday. Then, Thursday and Friday will be callbacks. To audition, high school students must pick up a packet and a rehearsal calendar from the Upper School Office and return the performance agreement on the day of auditions. Under the direction of Mr. Jeff Carroll, the WA Concert Band will continue the tradition of sharing their music with audiences throughout the world. This year, WA students will head to Cuba for their performance tour in March! While in Cuba, the concert band will perform public and church concerts. Students are working on a program of all-American music with hymn arrangements, overtures, jazz, and pop music, as well as marches to perform. Thank you to all who were able to attend the Festival of the Fine Arts Benefit Concert on Tuesday, September 24. Students from fifth to twelfth grade awed the audience with the depth of their talents. With so many gifted students, the evening was one highlight after another. However one of them would have to be the lower and middle school students preview of Mary Poppins, announcing their upcoming Spring musical.
