We're looking forward to joining the Lions’ Parent Association at the Florida Panthers Hockey Game! The WA community will gather on Saturday, March 23, at 7:00 p.m. at the BB&T Center in Sunrise for WA Family Night. The Panthers will face‐off with the Boston Bruins. In addition, our WA band will be playing before the game from 6:10–6:30 p.m. on the tarmac. We will end the night with a group photo on the ice to commemorate the event. The WA baseball season officially began last week with Opening Day on Thursday, February 28. Thanks to preseason preparation and supportive parents, our team is ready for a winning season! While the team worked on their baseball skills on the field this past month, their parents showed their trade skills on the facility. A workday proved fruitful with over 30 parents and players who volunteered their time to prepare for the season. On Tuesday, March 5, Westminster Academy held our second-grade spelling bee. The students were well-prepared and excited to show their spelling expertise. After 13 rounds of intense competition, Lariza Ora won the spelling bee. Words that were spelled correctly and led to the final round were: “eliminate,” “stylish,” and “knelt.” Alex Scott placed second, and Preston Pacienza won third place. The men’s varsity basketball team clinched the Regional Championship for the fourth straight year in a row! They defeated Sagemont 77–44 on Tuesday evening and now set their sights on their fourth consecutive visit to Lakeland, Florida, for the State Championship series. The Class 4A Semifinals will be held on Wednesday, March 6, at 10:00 a.m. at the Lakeland Center. The Lions will take on University Christian of Jacksonville.
