09 Feb Winter Court Recap
Last week was full of school spirit in honor of Winter Court with dress-up days for even our youngest lions, the Winter Court presentation in the upper school chapel, and Friday’s pep rally. All festivities led up to the WA Lions basketball game on Saturday, February 5, against The Benjamin School Buccaneers.
The Lions entered the game with a 17–6 record and defeated the Buccaneers 74–54. The game was not the only crowning achievement celebrated. The 2022 Winter Court was recognized during halftime—Seniors: Max Flores, Omar Jacques, Brandon Lue, Caleb Martos, Lydia Burkey, Jillian Jacaty, Leeya Kim, and Shyanne Scott; Juniors: Josiah Carre, Jonathan MacClugage, Haley Garcia, and Ellie Farrar; Sophomores: Isaque Bessa, Brian Hildebrandt, Christina MacClugage, and Elizabeth Nava; and Freshman: Brady Oropesa, Tanner Pritchard, Sophia Elmer, and Ellisa Kim.
WA crowned seniors Brandon Lue and Jillian Jacaty as the 2022 Winter Court King and Queen!
Finally, the competition continued after the Winter Court game when WA alumni faced WA faculty in the annual Lions Knockout Game. The Alumni took home the coveted Lion Knocker Trophy with a win of 62–61 in overtime.
