Varsity Ladies’ And Men’s Soccer Win Regional Titles

Our Varsity Lions Soccer teams both shared successful 2020-2021 seasons highlighted by their District and Regional titles. The teams earned the privilege of hosting their State Semifinal games on Friday, February 26, against The Canterbury School from Fort Myers. Although the Lions came up short, it does not take away from the memorable and impressive seasons they had.

The Lady Lions finished their season with a 12-5-2 record with big victories over The King’s Academy, Calvary Christian, and the South Florida Heat. Their postseason run started off with a tight 1-0 victory over the South Florida Heat which helped clinch their second consecutive District title. The Lions then blanked the Berean Christian Bulldogs 2-0 in the Regional Semifinals and then defeated Divine Savior in the Regional Finals handily with a 5-0 win to secure their bid to the State Semifinal game for the second consecutive year.

The Men’s team finished the season with a 13-5 record with some of their biggest wins against Calvary Christian and Highlands Christian. Their most memorable win of the season was in the Regional Final game against Divine Savior which went into double overtime eventually leading to a victory with penalty kicks. This was the first Regional Final win for the Men’s Soccer team in school history.

We look forward to seeing both these teams make another run next year. Way to go Lions Soccer!
