Fourth & Fifth Grade Spelling Bee

Fourth & Fifth Grade Spelling Bee

On Tuesday, December 10, the Lower School held the annual Scripps/Miami Herald fourth and fifth-grade spelling bee. The students came well-prepared and excited to show their spelling expertise. After 12 rounds of intense competition, Jade Engen-Ruiz (fourth grade) won the spelling bee. As a result, Jade will go on to represent Westminster Academy in the Miami Herald/Scripps National Spelling Bee in March.

Words spelled correctly and led to the final round were: “brambles,” “fiercest,” and  “mulish.” Ethan Manuel (fourth grade) won second place, and Kathyan Pierre (fifth grade) won third place.
