Football Season Recap

The Fall 2019 Varsity Football Team’s success grew out of much adversity these last two years. Head Coach Tommy Lewis described it best when he said, “This team, or better described—family, bore the fruit. They continued to strive to do and be the best one can be, no matter the situation or result. They lived out the value of being there for one another, sticking together, and enjoying the process together. Grit. Enthusiasm. Self-discipline. These were the call words shared throughout this season.”

The Florida Independent Football Conference (FIFC) selected WA senior, Donovan Lassiter, as Player of the Year. Also recognized for their commitment, efforts, and talents, the following student-athletes made FIFC All-Conference:

  • 1st Team: Riley Clements, Donovan Lassiter, Micah Lewis, Steven Tinsley, and David Zhu
  • 2nd Team: Connor Hatch, Tobias Lewis, and Bryan Lodge
  • 3rd Team: Will Bankston, Bryce Brown, Robert Loucks, Tovani Mizell, and Dimitri Selimos

Galatians 6:9 states, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” The class of 2020 has built upon the foundation of tough-mindedness, diligence, love, and commitment, and has left a legacy for future WA Lion football teams to inherit and build upon.
