Softball Season Recap

The Lady Lions’ Softball team shared a memorable 2019 season full of persistence, dedication, and heart. The competitive schedule challenged the young, talented squad. The Lions came up with some noteworthy wins against district rivals, Chaminade-Madonna and Calvary, as well as Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop McCarthy, and West Boca High School. The team finished with a 15 win season and were District-Runner Ups.

The Lady Lions had a lot of depth in their lineup. The versatility and speed of sixth grader, Dianna Montidoro, and freshman, Kamryn Casey, helped at the top of the lineup. Meanwhile, the big bats of Caroline Austin, Emma Hoffman, and Emma Wallhoff drove runners in. Other big contributors at the plate were sophomores, Rebecca Forrester, Jackie Nava, and Brooke Stepelton, along with seventh grader, Kyleigh Hope. Each was a consistent force at the plate, providing big hits in timely situations.

On the other hand, junior captain, Emma Hoffman, was the ace of the pitching staff for the team’s defense. She collected 13 of the teams’ 15 wins. Above all, Hoffman pitched an impressive 136 innings this season. The infield consisted of Caroline Austin, Kamryn Casey, Kyleigh Hope, Dianna Montidoro, Hanna Perun and Emma Wallhoff. This group made routine plays that backed their pitcher up. Additionally, the girls in the outfield took their role seriously as the last line of defense. Tori Barbar, Rebecca Forrester, Angelina Marinucci, Jackie Nava, and Brooke Stepelton all improved their confidence and athletic ability throughout the season.

I’m proud of their persistence and heart. The girls exceeded their own expectations through the consistency, hard work, and commitment they brought to the field each day,” Coach Casey Jarvis said. The future looks promising for the young squad, which graduates no seniors. It will make for another memorable and successful 2020 season.
