18 Apr Water Polo Season Recap
We congratulate our Water Polo teams on their hard work this season!
Varsity Men’s Water Polo
The Varsity Men’s Water Polo team had a small and young roster this season. However, the team adapted well to playing a different system in defense. Centerback Riley Clements proved to be an outstanding defender and finished the season as the second top scorer. While junior goalie, Joseph Maxson, had a tremendous season and captured 221 saves, senior Adam Warters ended his campaign in strong fashion as the teams’ top scorer with 75 goals. Other key contributors and scorers were sophomores, Noah Sipowski with 19 goals, Aiden Paterson with 10 goals, and junior Trent Shaw with 25 goals. In addition, middle school student‐athletes also made strong contributions this season. Eighth‐grade student, Charlie Scasserra, scored an impressive 11 goals while fellow classmate, Jeremiah Critch, was right behind him with ten. Both young men became important players with a lot of minutes, games, and responsibility. Additionally, the team is very proud of the solid commitment from David Maxson and Mark Pekic who are up and coming middle school athletes with a lot of potential.
Varsity Ladies’ Water Polo
Our Varsity Ladies’ Water Polo team had a solid season with some competitive games and scores. Even though players were out due to various injuries throughout the season, the team reached the District Semifinals. During that match‐up against Deerfield Beach, the team never gave up. However, their season concluded after that hard‐fought battle. The small roster of young and aggressive players gave tremendous effort all season without much rest. Key contributors this season include freshman, Abby Weissman who was one of the teams’ top scorers with 38 goals while eighth‐grade student, Maddie Sipowski was the counter‐attack with top speed. Junior, Shaion Falconer, and freshman, Emma Weissman were strong forces and a great combination for the center position. Additionally, Emma was the teams’ top scorer with an impressive 44 goals on the season. Freshman, Emily Graham and senior, Catherine Moraitis both played defensive center back where they did most of the dirty work. Senior goalie, Gabi Sampo had a great first season, saving many opposing shots. The team is also proud of the hard work and commitment from youngsters, Mia Harms and Lynn Rose Ruiz who will continue to learn and be a force to reckon with in the years to come. We are very proud of this young team!
