A Word From Mr. Satterly—March 21, 2019

Dear WA Community,

I pray you enjoyed spring break. For some, the week offered a bit of rest; and for others, it was a time to get some stuff done. Regardless of how your week went, the passing of spring break signals the turn for home. There is still a ton of the race left and more to accomplish.

Among other things, such as welcoming my first grandson into the world, last week afforded me an opportunity to reflect on our recent successes:

  • A record-setting auction, which not only helps mightily with our annual fund goal but also provides funding for the new Collaboratory space in the lower school.
  • Two graduating seniors who are National Merit finalists.
  • A third consecutive state basketball championship, only the second Broward County school to accomplish this feat.
  • Our current fifth grade has 100% re-enrollment for next year—that’s what I call retention.
While there is much to celebrate, I look forward to sharing what is on the horizon with many of you on Tuesday, March 26. I hope you will consider carving out the time to join us for a brief overview. Much has been happening behind the scenes, and our team has been hard at work. The middle school schedule is getting a makeover, along with our directed studies program. Our lower school students will learn a new word next year: Collaboratory. Finally, the upper school will have new leadership, and I will finally get to introduce Dr. Ron Farrar and Mr. Matt Petersen to you in person. Plan to stay for a reception and tour the media center.
I look forward to seeing you next week.
In His Service,

Joel T. Satterly
