Middle School Visits New World Symphony

On Thursday, January 17, the middle school orchestra traveled to Miami Beach to attend an educational concert. The New World Symphony performed with the purpose of introducing school-age students to a full orchestra. While students enjoyed strings, winds, brass, and percussion, they also heard firsthand how music communicates a story.

This field trip was personal for Mr. David Schwartz, WA Orchestra Director, who was a part of the New World Symphony when it first began in 1988. The New World Symphony is comprised of post-graduate students. All want to further their orchestra playing skills. As a result, their participation in this orchestra exposes them to the very best soloists, conductors, masterclasses, and coaching. In addition, these performers tour around the world. It was an honor for WA students to hear New World Symphony perform.
