We would also like to recognize a number of those who are returning with new roles. Together, we look forward to an exciting 2012–2013 school year.
Jason Beaupied, a "lifer" and alumnus of WA, is moving from the Spiritual Life Director to our faculty, teaching Drama and Speech. Mr. Beaupied is a graduate of the University of Florida in communications and has several years of experience, both as a WA student and in his professional career, in performance and production. He is looking forward to directing "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" in the spring.
Kim Boros, WA Class of '85, has accepted one of our three Kindergarten Teacher positions for this up coming school year. Mrs. Boros has been a teacher assistant here at WA since 2007. She has two children who are currently at WA, her daughter Jamie, who is going into 7th grade, and her son Thomas "TJ" who is going into 5th grade.
Gary Chapman returns to WA to teach fifth grade. Mr. Chapman graduated with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Florida Atlantic University. He has taught and coached a variety of sports the past sixteen years. Nine of those years have been at Westminster Academy in the fourth and fifth grades. His wife is Kathy, and they have three children: Karly, Kevin, and Kaitlyn.
Evan Cooper (EJ) has served at WA for one year as a permanent substitute and is now joining our faculty teaching middle school social studies. He will also be serving as a study hall monitor and coach for football and track. Mr. Cooper is a graduate of Temple University and came to us after teaching at Champagnat School in Miami.
Renée Costanzo will be stepping in to direct our middle school and high school choral program. After graduating from The Eastman School of Music, Ms. Costanzo began her operatic singing career, performing in New York, Austria and throughout Florida. She returned to school and received her Masters degree from the University of Miami's School of Music in Vocal Performance. Recently, Ms. Costanzo has directed choirs and stage productions at a number of local schools.
Michael J. Critch is a 2008 graduate of WA who went on to play football at Grove City College and then completed his college career at the University of Miami. While at Miami he was instrumental in growing the Campus Crusade ministry by serving as a speaker and worship leader. He also initiated a men’s Christian fraternity, Sigma. Mr. Critch will be teaching Bible in the middle school and will be coaching football and basketball.
Rachel Dean joins Westminster Academy this year as the assistant athletic trainer. She is a Nationally Certified Athletic Trainer, originally from Valparaiso, Indiana. She received her Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training in 2010 from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana. Miss Dean then moved to Tyler, Texas where she worked at Whitehouse High School and Junior High as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. She completed her Masters of Education in Health and Kinesiology in May of 2012.
Allison Elmer graduated from Westminster Academy in 1993 and graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University 1997 with a Bachelor in Elementary Education and Specific Learning Disabilities. She was a former employee of WA for four years with a total of six years experience in education. Mrs. Elmer is married to Austin and has three children, Carson, Samantha and Sophia who were homeschooled and will now be attending Westminster Academy. She is blessed to return to WA as an ACE teacher for fourth grade and parent.
Ruth Felsburg grew up in South Florida and has been married for 20 years to her husband Dan and has a daughter, Sara Elizabeth who will be attending our first grade class. She recently returned to South Florida from Central Pennsylvania where she attended Florida International University with a Bachelor in Science and Elementary Education. She has fifteen years of teaching experience in grades two, four and five. For the last five years she has worked at the Early Childhood Center at Country and Town Baptist Church in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Felsberg is blessed and honored to be a part of WA and look forward to serving The Lord along side with the WA faculty and staff.
Jackie Joines is joining us serving as a middle school Bible teacher and as the upper school Student Advisor. She is familiar to many in our community, as she has served as the middle school track coach for two years. Miss Joines graduated from Marshall University and has served for the last four years in the children's ministry at Calvary Chapel.
Alan Kunkel joins our team after serving as a faculty member for six years at Orangewood Christian School in Maitland, Florida. He will be teaching science in the upper school and assisting as a coach in the baseball program. Mr. Kunkel is a graduate of Florida Christian College and has a Masters degree in Education.
Eddie Lovell joins Westminster Academy to serve as our head age group coach, assist with the high school and senior groups, and work with Aquatics Director Sam Freas in all aspects of the aquatics program. Coach Lovell is a WA Alumnus, where he was an All-American, State Champion, and school record holder. He earned All-American status as a collegiate swimmer at the University of Hawaii and then went on to coach multiple All-Americans and Conference Champions as a graduate assistant at Virginia Tech. For the last seven years, Eddie has served as a coach at Pine Crest Swim Club.
Jessica Mora Nurquez will be joining us as head athletic trainer. Jessica has over 17 years of experience as an athletic trainer in Olympic, professional, collegiate and youth sports. She is a graduate of Barry University and has a Masters Degree in Athletic Training from Michigan State University. She is a certified Athletic Trainer, Strength and Conditioning Specialist, American Red Cross instructor, and adjunct professor at Nova Southeastern University and Barry University. Mrs. Nurquez will also be teaching a class on Anatomy and Sports Medicine in our science department.
Jorge Pacheco will be joining us after serving for the past eight years as an adjunct professor and high school teacher in science, primarily in Chemistry. Mr. Pacheco is a native of Puerto Rico, obtaining his Bachelor Degree from the University of Puerto Rico. He completed his Maters Degree in Inorganic and Organic Chemistry at Long Island University.
Cecilia Peters will be joining our faculty as a part-time teacher in the English department. She has over 14 years of teaching experience, most recently at Coral Springs Christian Academy. Mrs. Peters has used her creative talents to develop curriculum around current literature and art, and taken higher-level students successfully through Advance Placement Language and Literature.
Robert Rivera will be joining our facilities department in the role of campus security. Mr. Rivera is retired from law enforcement as a Broward Sherriff Deputy of 27 years. His daughter is attending middle school at WA.
Lanae Robinson will be our new head JV volleyball and ladies' middle school basketball coach. Miss Robinson has over four years coaching experience at the club, junior high and high school level. She played volleyball all four years for Palm Beach Atlantic University, and was a scholar athlete, finished top 20 in the nation for Women's Division 2 Volleyball Hitting, and led her team to the NCCAA nationals two years in a row. She has her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Exercise Science. Miss Robinson will also be working in the athletic department this upcoming school year.
Jessica Salas is a native of South Florida, obtaining her Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts from Florida Atlantic University. Miss Salas has been teaching Art in the Broward County school system since 2007 and is going to be teaching Visual Arts in the high school.
Stevie Stipanovic will be joining the WA staff this fall as one of our 1st grade teachers. She recently moved here from Pennsylvania. Miss Stipanovic graduated magna cum laude from St. Vincent College where she received a Bachelor of Science in elementary instruction and a minor in psychology. She has been employed by the Greater Latrobe School District for the past 2 years before joining us here at Westminster Academy.
Tyler Wheeler has been part of the WA family for two years, serving as a permanent substitute and as a groundskeeper at our Athletic Complex. He is finishing his teaching degree and will be moving into the classroom in the fall. Mr. Wheeler will be assisting in the Directed Studies program under Mrs. Ellen Kirkman.
Tracey Wood will be leaving her teaching position and moving into the position of Assistant Principal to the Lower School. Mrs. Wood is an alumna of WA. She holds her Bachelors of Arts degree in Education from Florida Atlantic University. She has been teaching at WA for seventeen years. Mrs. Wood has taught several different grades ranging from PK3 to 3rd grade. She has also served over ten years as a department team leader. Mrs. Wood has been married over 18 years and has three children who all attend Westminster Academy.
