While we welcome home all 19 Track and Field members from their State Meet, we celebrate the 4x800 team's win. Sophomore Dimitri Selimos, senior Saahr Edouard, senior Josh DeAngulo, and senior Nick Rowe ran their last race together. Finishing at 8:16.13, they took the 1A 4x800 title and came home state champions. Since WA Track & Field successfully advanced each postseason meet, team members now head to Jacksonville for the state championship. The Florida High School Track and Field State Championships will be this Friday, May 4, and Saturday, May 5. WA has 19 student-athletes competing at the University of North Florida’s Hodges Stadium in individual events.We wish them safe travels, good weather, and the endurance it will take to perform at their best! The Men’s and Ladies’ Varsity Track Team felt right at home during Districts with a home-field advantage. On Monday, April 9, our west campus Athletic Complex hosted the district’s teams. Both WA men’s and ladies’ teams received awards as district runner-ups. Men placed second with 165.5 points, and ladies placed second with 124 points collectively.Leading scorers were Jonathan Moulton and Jasmine Hincapie with first-place finishes. They were in good company. Matthew Brown, Nick Rowe, David Zhu, and Saahr Edouard all placed first in their individual events.
