Senior swimmer, Jessica Nava, was invited onto the basketball court Saturday night, February 3, during half-time of the WA Lions vs. Montverde Academy Eagles game. Jessica was awarded and named the 2017 Girls Class 1A Swimmer of the Year in the entire state of Florida. This award came from the Florida Dairy Farmers Association, a sponsor of FHSAA sports since 1992, who plays a key role in acknowledging and awarding special recognition to athletes throughout the state. With winter sports in full swing, the 2018 spring athletic sports season is just around the corner! Below you will find a list of the spring sports tryout and start dates for the 2018 season. Every student-athlete must have a completed athletic physical form turned in before they can try out. If your student-athlete is playing a WA Winter sport that overlaps with the dates and times below, please encourage them to communicate their intentions to both their winter and spring coaches. The aquatic lions had another outstanding performance at the 1A State Championships on Saturday in Stuart. The competition got off to a great start with 7th grader Makenzie Blake placing 15th at her first-ever state meet in 1-meter diving. In the men’s 1 meter diving, freshman Blake Shaw had an All-American worthy performance finishing in 5th place with 433.30 points.
