Raise the Flag for the Florida Gators!

March 15, 2017 Posted in: School News Tags: , , ,

Our annual dinner auction ended with a team spirit competition to “Raise the Flag” for the most loved Florida Gatorscollege teams – the Hurricanes, Gators, and Seminoles!  Guests donated funds for “bragging rights” that were designated for the Dr. Kenneth P. Wackes Media Center renovation. The Florida Gators came out on top, so their flag will be raised at the crosswalk March 20-24. In addition to this, all students PK2 through 12th grade will be allowed to wear a University of Florida t-shirt or sweatshirt on Thursday, March 23. Uniform shorts, pants or skirts should be worn as usual. Go Gators!

Derby Day at WA Recap

Westminster Academy’s annual dinner auction, Derby Day at WA, presented by Freeman Orthodontics, was a huge 16995979_1518568708183294_3457662648988969803_nsuccess. About 250 guests enjoyed southern fare, bid on exciting items and one lucky table won the drawing for the VIP table with their own private chef, VIP bag and express checkout! A portion of the evening was dedicated to honoring Dr. Ken Wackes and naming him Headmaster Emeritus, in appreciation for his 32 years of faithful service. All proceeds from the auction will be designated for renovating the Dr. Kenneth P. Wackes Media Center. To view pictures of Derby Day at WA, visit the WA Facebook page.

We praise God that through the generosity of His people, the gross proceeds for the event were nearly $150,000. We are also grateful to our alumni who provided a $15,000 matching gift for the heart raise, a picture of those who have gone before us, encouraging our current families to give.

We are so grateful for all those who solicited items and volunteered, as well as our generous community partners who donated items. Special thanks to our Presenting Sponsor, Freeman Orthodontics, and additional sponsors: Advanced Stucco, Heart to Heart, D. James Kennedy Foundation, JVR Ingrasci Impact Windows and Doors, License to Chill/Rheem Partner, Sapoznik Insurance, Benchmark Financial Group LLC, Cammarata & Cammarata P.L., and Marker Construction.
