The middle school orchestra class plays a piece called Schindler's List—music from the movie. The movie tells the story of Oskar Schindler who created a work program for Jews at, Plaszow, one of the many notorious concentration camps in Poland. Mr. Schwartz takes his seventh and eighth-grade orchestra classes to the Holocaust Memorial in Miami Beach to provide some context for the piece. The eighth-grade students study the Holocaust in the second quarter and visit the Holocaust Memorial on their Washington, D.C. trip, integrating it with what they are already receiving from their history lessons in middle school....

Each January in Tampa, students perform as a part of the All-State Music Ensembles. They are selected through a statewide audition process and placed in premier ensembles with leading music directors from around the country. The selected students represent some of the best students in the state from private, public, and charter schools. The All-County Orchestras are auditioned ensembles where students are selected from a county-wide competition of both public and private schools. The orchestras, which meets four times and then presents a performance, are conducted by well-known county or state professionals. Last night, Wednesday, April 20, was a fine arts extravaganza as both the middle and high school art students, orchestras, and choirs glorified God with their gifts and talents. Our Juried Art Show started at 5:30 p.m. in the Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church Narthex. The festival showcased artwork from all Middle and High School art classes. We could not be prouder of all the hard work these students put into their work. The evening continued with our Orchestra and Choir concerts in the Coral Ridge Sanctuary.
