For the second year in a row, FRC Team 744, Shark Attack, competed at the FIRST Robotics Competition World Championship at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. FIRST Lego League, FIRST Tech Challenge, and FIRST Robotics Competitions filled the three floors of the convention center. There were 405 FRC Teams from around the world competing on six fields in the convention center. Shark Attack ranked fifth after day one of qualifying. The excitement was in the air as WA students arrived in Orlando for the Latin States competition this past Thursday, April 19. Latin students would be put to the test on all things Latin. With over 1,200 Latin students from over 100 schools throughout Florida, WA joined the crowd to celebrate the Latin language and the Roman culture. Currently, the weather forecasts a sunny day with mild winds on Friday, April 20. So, plan to join us for our 9th Annual Fishing Tournament brought to you by Journey Kids Dental! The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 7:00 a.m. from the Hillsboro Inlet. Then, weigh-ins will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the home of Tom Ellis. As you may recall, Hurricane María devastated Puerto Rico last September. The country continues to rebuild after the tragic event, but it is has been a slow process. Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church plans to travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico, this summer and invites WA students to join. The church will serve our Puerto Rican brothers and sisters by assisting in the reconstruction and painting of their damaged homes. This missions trip will last eight days from July 6-13, 2018.
